Posted on 10 October, 2023

Welcome back to Turin

The annual appointment with the Club To Club festival returns in its 2023 edition. A well-established reality, now in its twenty-first appearance, this year C2C23 will take place from November 2nd to November 5th. The designated locations for the event in Turin, Italy, are the extensive spaces of Lingotto Fiere and OGR (Officine Grandi Riparazioni).

Besides well-known artists and several Italian exclusive shows, there are also some new features in the format, with the introduction of a taste of the festival on November 1st, with C2C Kids!, at the Fucine OGR. C2C Kids! has been designed for the younger generations of music enthusiasts, with free entry for all under 18.

C2C23: XXI: 世界 / El Mundo / The World / Il Mondo

The new edition of the C2C focuses on the theme of the world. With a history of more than twenty years, Club To Club boasts the prestigious achievement of establishing an international presence for music shows in Turin, capable of gathering up to 35,000 music enthusiasts from more than 40 countries.

Spanning across genres from pop, electronic, and avant-garde rock, the festival has hosted artists worldwide, shifting the new edition’s central theme to the event’s global interconnection.

“There is so much different music: pop, rap, jazz, R&B – C2C co-founder Sergio Ricciardone said to the Italian website Linkiesta – We deal with ‘other imageries.’ Club To Club, or C2C Festival, is a great way to tell where music is going. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll have Nick Cave at the festival, and then it will be clear that we don’t just do electronic music. For example, Jhonny Greenwood played at the festival with Junun, who was doing Indian music.”

Italian exclusive shows

The C2C 23 program will feature numerous exclusive Italian shows and iconic events. One standout is the sensational return of Flying Lotus to Italy on November 4th, absent from the Club To Club stages since 2014. At that time, he was involved in an iconic 3D show at Milan’s Alcatraz during the tour of his album You’re Dead.

Among the exciting Italian exclusives in the C2C23 program are Caroline Polachek, King Krule, Yves Tumor, Model/Actriz, and many others. What stands out from the overall festival lineup is the diversity of musical genres, encompassing ethnic influences from around the world, all in support of the overarching theme of the entire event. Below, you’ll find the complete program for Club To Club 23.

An immersive experience between past and future

Participating in Club To Club is a unique opportunity among Italian cultural proposals.

Attending events across different scattered historical locations offers the opportunity to metabolize the dynamics of the city of Turin, often with exclusives that you won’t be able to see elsewhere. It’s sure you will be immersed in a strongly international atmosphere, as the festival has become a meeting point for people worldwide. The organization’s lineup choices carefully monitor the latest news on the innovative music scene, allowing the audience to discover new artists. While it all will be balanced with performances by renowned artists that music enthusiasts couldn’t wait to admire live.

Avant-garde music in Post-industrial locations

The events will be held in one-of-a-kind locations, with Lingotto having an exhibition area of 100,000 square meters and the OGR almost double that, effectively making them the largest structures in Turin.

In the past, Lingotto was the key plant for producing Fiat cars. Over the years, the site was set aside for automotive production, only to be renovated in the late 1980s. Since then, the site has been transformed into a multifunctional complex, preserving its historical importance and becoming a reference for cultural events.

Officine Grandi Riparazioni (known as OGR) had a similar path. An avant-garde project from the late 19th century intended for maintenance operations for the Italian railways, it risked being closed due to abandonment. However, this was averted by a renovation operation concluded in 2019. Since then, OGR has hosted cultural events relating to music, performing arts, and education.

Certainly, the choice of these locations affirms a bond between Club to Club and the history of the city of Turin. So the result is an original experience where the future of avant-garde music meets the architectural innovation of historic buildings.
