Early signals from the Golden Globes 2026
This year’s Oscar race unfolds in the wake of the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, which once again acted as an early barometer for Academy recognition.
While the Globes are voted by journalists and the Oscars by industry peers, recurring overlaps—particularly in Best Picture, Acting, and Directing categories—often highlight titles with strong momentum throughout awards season.
One Battle After Another, Hamnet, and Secret Agent are some of the movies that performed well at the Golden Globes and also appeared prominently in the Academy’s shortlists, reinforcing their position as key contenders ahead of today’s nominations.
There is strong audience anticipation for Sinners, Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value, and Bugonia.
